For her first solo exhibition, Olivia Herna\u00efz took the liberty to organize a rather confidential show. Here is what you would have read if you had come to see it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“ladestructiondesespacesvides presents: Olivia Herna\u00efz,<\/strong><\/em> Hzarad<\/strong><\/em>, 27, 28 and 29 june 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00a0On June 16, artist Olivia Herna\u00efz sent ninety original drawings to ninety complete strangers, inviting them to bring the drawings back to her and join in for a three-day exhibition event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The names of the ninety recipients were randomly picked out of the phone directories of three Brussels municipalities (Saint-Gilles, Forest and Uccle).<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00a0The content of the drawings was also left to chance. For each of them, the artist selected two random words in the dictionary : the first indicated the subject to be drawn, the second was used as a caption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Each returned drawing will be placed randomly on one of the fifteen black squares designed for the exhibition display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The pieces, which are the size of a postcard, also served as invitation cards. No one other than the ninety recipients have been invited to \u2013 or even given information about \u2013 the event.
