Ce dernier album, intitul\u00e9 <strong><em>Sapropelic<\/em> <em>Pycnic<\/em> <\/strong>et sorti l\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re sur le l\u00e9gendaire label chicagoan Drag City, n\u2019a rien d\u2019herm\u00e9tique ; bien qu\u2019exp\u00e9rimental, il est toujours aussi fermement ancr\u00e9 dans la terre que ses pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseurs et parle aux tripes autant qu\u2019il s\u2019offre aux vastes soifs mystiques de l\u2019esprit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>EN<\/strong>  With the bewitching <strong>Spires That in the Sunset Rise<\/strong>, Ka Baird began by exploring the wilder side of what was at the time termed \u2018weird folk\u2019 music, conjuring up something that is still as fascinating now as it was a decade earlier. A true explorer ship, the band succeeded in locating the exact point where chaos and structure, dissonance and melody, theatricality and violent introversion produce the sublime. A dialog between the band\u2019s two core members, the music of the Spires today favors wind instruments such as flute and sax, delivering hypnotic pieces at the crossroads of free jazz, experimental music and spiritual incantations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instrumental prospecting is also at the heart of Ka Baird\u2019s work: exploration of the strings with the early Spires, wind instruments with the current Spires, improvised piano with her solo album <em><strong>See Sun Think Shadow<\/strong><\/em> (2015). And these days, it is music centered on the flute, adorned with voices and structured around electronic manipulations, that the musician will perform at les Ateliers de la G\u00e9n\u00e9rale. Her last album, <em><strong>Sapropelic Pycnic<\/strong><\/em>, although experimental is nature, is still as firmly anchored to the ground as its predecessors.
