ARENDS, Fred

Our Story was created in 2017 by Fred Arends, a film critic (at Cinergie.be) and programmer at Pink Screens and Cinémarges in Bordeaux. Fred was inspired by the UCLA Outfest Legacy Project – an initiative of UCLA and Outfest (the legendary LGBTQ film festival), which aims to preserve, restore and promote “old” queer films and TV archives.
Fred launched Our Story with a very ambitious event in collaboration with the Legacy Project (‘Out of the Closet, Onto the Screen: Treasures from the Outfest UCLA Legacy Project‘): an incredible programme curated by lesbian director Cheryl Dunye (25 films in 3 weeks).
We took over Our Story in 2021, after Fred left the CINEMATEK.
